You are not alone

I do not at any one time imagine myself as special. Though I know for sure sometimes I do not think in a normal way. I do not feel in a normal way. But how can I know this? How can I say such while I have used only my mind? How can I say this while I have had only one heart?

How many songs about freedom have you heard in your lifetime? Why do they resonate with most music lovers? Have you ever strolled in a park on a sunny day and felt the wind against your face? Felt the wind against your arms and hands? Did you see the children play, and hop around, and cut through the lawns? Did you marvel at their ignorance? Did you envy their innocence? And did you see that nothing was everything, and everything is nothing?

Have you ever sat to watch the news and Janet Mbugua sounded excited to let you in on what’s top of the hour? Didn’t it feel like déjà vu? Oh, you didn’t feel like yelling, “I’m tired of hearing this”? Have you reached that point where you know the world is how it is by design? So where did you see yourself-struggling up the hill or strolling down to gather yourself? Do you now realise there is no tipping point?

So you are now beginning to know the truth. The yoke of despair chokes you. But the light did shine on you so you do not remain enslaved, or your spirits remain caged. It shone so you can be courageous. To stand in determination with the rest and say, “we made it.”
